As the Moon’s favourite creature, her magick surrounds you always. This mystical deity has a powerful influence on your thinking, behaviour and your body cycles. Astrologically, she rules your instinctual reactions to everyday situations...

In ancient times a seeker of truth would entreat Bastet, the Great Cat Mother and Moon-ruled deity who was also known as the Lady of Truth, for enlightenment. It was said she cast her light on that hidden by darkness and along her path of silvery moonbeams, the seeker would tread this narrow track which was called a ‘cat-walk’.

Cats, by nature creatures of the night, tend to sleep by day and become more active at night. In addition to mating, stalking night-time prey and singing on the rooftops, they also indulge in a favourite past-time - that of ‘moon-bathing’. It is a closely guarded secret known only to a few that basking by moonlight is as essential to cats as snoozing in warm sunlit spots during the day.

In addition to the herbs accorded to your sign, all Moon-ruled watery flowers, plants and trees such as Camelia, Lily, especially Water Lily, and Willow trees are yours. Often used in Moon rituals, all white and purple flowers such as Hyacinth, Magnolia, Heathers and Lilac are special to the goddess Moon. The herbs Rue, Vervain and also Olive are used at these times.

Moon and Cat are both symbols of fertility and the Moon’s phases are said to have an influence on this. Kittens are often conceived at a New Moon - coming to fruition in approximately nine weeks. Nine is a number sacred to both Moon and Cat.
